Grade 9 Titanium Tubing

Why are Lithe Goods cages made from Grade 9 hollow tube?

We looked at making our cages with solid Ti rod, but ended up choosing hollow Ti tubing for the construction due to the superior strength to weight ratio.  In fact, the solid rod designs we worked with early on weighed almost double our final hollow tube style!  There are other manufacturers on the market which use a solid rod design - and there’s nothing wrong with them at all, they are usually cheaper with a more slender design which can also be appealing.

The specific material used here is Grade 9 Titanium (often referred to as 3Al-2.5V, due to the percentages of Aluminum and Vanadium added for strength).  Incredible corrosion resistance is a given, and Grade 9 further allows easily welding and forming.
